Te Araroa, Day 27 and Day 28

Dec. 1 and 2, 2023, Zero Days, Dukes Midway Lodge, Royal Oak, Auckland (TA km 602)

Yesterday, Nov 30, we surpassed the 600-kilometer mark on the trail. Time flies—600 km!

To me, the days pass too quickly. The following day, I struggle to remember where we stayed or walked the day before or the day before that. Everything becomes a blur, and there’s scarcely time to reflect on the previous days in my head, even while walking. Constant attention is required to stay on the right track, plan the next break, or organize food resupply, the next days or just take everything in. It’s a "busy life" but very enjoyable.

I’m amazed at how my body has grown stronger. While my feet still hurt, I believe it’s partly due to scar tissue from old injuries. That’s acceptable as long as it doesn’t worsen.

Our last days off were in Paihia around 12-13 days ago. I don’t count the days; they come and go. I’m just there, just walking. This life is good.

Back to planning now..., I will be on my own for a few days after this break and have to work out my daily stages, find accommodation and the food to take.
