Te Araroa, Day 76

Jan. 19, 2024, Nelson, zero day

At 8:04, I take a bus to Wakefield to buy a Nylofume bag. Nylofume bags are very light, see-through plastic bags that are very durable. I use them as backpack liners. Additionally, they are odor-proof and keep mice away. They are hard to get in Europe, and in New Zealand, there seems to be only one place that I accidentally found, and it is not too far from Nelson.

The moment I get off the bus, it starts raining heavily again. There is nothing around that could give me shelter, so I walk the 15 minutes to the garage shop. Within minutes, I am completely drenched. I arrive a few minutes before 9:00 and wait underneath a little roof.

After I get the bag, I walk back and a little further into the town and wait 2 hours for the next bus to Nelson. At least here, I find some cover.

Later, I keep checking the tracking number for my parcel. It says "earliest arrival on Monday" instead of Saturday. I am not happy about that. I wait until 8:00 pm. No change. I book 2 more nights.
